Stitched, New Fiber Work by Tasha Lewis: September 2015

This was my second Solo show at the Harrison Center for the arts and it included many new branches of my work. You can read a review here. I was showing in Gallery 2, and a fellow cyanotype artist, Casey Roberts, was showing in the main gallery. I created many new laser-cut fabric collage paintings for this show based on photographs I had taken of downtown Indianapolis.

No More Place: October 2014

This is a group show I created for Newark, NJ's Open Doors Festival. With the help of 19 other artists I met in the Bronx Museum's AIM (Artists in the Marketplace) program we transformed two floors of a vacant building into a temporary art space. I organized and curated the show, and it featured the debut of my finished Humpback Flukes sculpture.

Blue Butterflies, Migrations Across America: Summer 2014

This show was at The Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus, OH. It includes many canvas prints of photographs from my Swarm project as well as 4,000 magnetic cyanotype butterflies hung from hundreds of wires in the middle of the space. Scroll down to see a time-lapse video of the installation.

Curious Creatures, Hand-sewn Specimens Under Glass : Spring 2014

This installation was in the main atrium at LaGuardia Community College in Queens, NY. Each of the three display cases included a different branch of my sculptural practice: the first has pieces from my Moments of Thaw series, the second included magnetic butterflies hung in a cloud on strings, and the third showcased yet another iteration of my Herd series.

Invasion: September 2013

This was my entry for Art Prize 2013 in Grand Rapids, MI. It was shown at the Craft House gallery along with 4 other artists. The gallery was one of five nominated for best venue across the city. My installation is a six foot diameter sphere of iron covered in chicken-wire and 2,000 magnetic butterflies. Viewers were encouraged to move the butterflies around the globe and a stop-motion camera captured the changes over time. Scroll down for the video.

The Herd: September 2012

This was my first show after graduation and was an installation in a small gallery in downtown Philadelphia called Napoleon Gallery. I have also included a video created by a classmate of mine from Swarthmore: Tayarisha Poe. It was a collaborative, long-distance experiment with visuals by Tayarisha, words by Alicia Salvadeo, and my Herd sculptures.
